We then stop at Reykjanes Lighthouse, Iceland’s oldest working lighthouse, standing proudly atop Bæjarfell hill. The nearby visitor center tells the story of shipwrecks, lightkeepers, and the lighthouse’s century long role guiding ships safely along Iceland’s rugged coast.
Finally, we arrive at the Bridge Between Continents, a symbolic footbridge spanning the rift where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Step across and literally stand between two continents, surrounded by black lava fields and the raw, ever changing Icelandic landscape, a remarkable reminder of the forces that continue to shape this island.
