The walk through the Almannagjá gorge offers dramatic scenery and a direct connection to Iceland's deep history. From there, the route continues to the Geysir Geothermal Area, where Strokkur erupts reliably every five to eight minutes, shooting columns of water up to 30 metres into the air. The sheer force of Gullfoss follows - a glacial waterfall cascading in two tiers into a 32-metre canyon carved by the Hvítá river, with viewpoints that place you close to the spray.
