Magical Golden Circle Tour.

Prepare to be awestruck by the majestic beauty of Gullfoss, Iceland's most popular waterfall. This breathtaking natural wonder, situated on the Hvitá River, was almost lost to energy production until a young farmer's courageous act saved it from destruction. Now, visitors from all over the world come to marvel at its splendor and pay homage to the farmer's heroic act through a stunning rock monument.Gullfoss is not only a signature attraction of Iceland's Golden Circle, but also one of the most amazing waterfalls in Europe. Its unique water flow and dimension creates the illusion of vanishing into the earth before re-emerging next to the waterfall. The waterfall is formed due to two massive plaque fractures, which create an 11, 21, and 32-meter fall. Located just 110 kilometers from Reykjavik on road 35, it's easy to reach with daily buses running from the city.Experience the beauty of Gullfoss from two viewpoints - above and below - each offering equally spectacular views. Take a peaceful stroll on the wooden boardwalk or get up close to feel the spray of the falls. Just remember to wear a rain jacket to stay dry. After a day of exploration, rest your weary head at the nearby hotel, which is just five minutes away from the waterfall. You can also catch a glimpse of the magnificent Northern Lights in the night sky, making your stay even more memorable. And don't forget to add a few more locations to your itinerary, as Gullfoss is part of the famous Golden Circle. Visit Thingvellir National Park, Haukadalur, and geyser geothermal zone to make the most of your day trip.In conclusion, Gullfoss is a true miracle of nature that deserves all the praise it can garner. Make sure to add this gem to your Iceland travel list, as it's truly a sight to behold.

Welcome to Thingvellir National Park, where natural beauty meets rich history and adventure awaits at every turn! Iceland's untouched landscapes are a magnet for tourists, and Thingvellir is no exception. As one of Iceland's protected national parks, it offers a glimpse into the country's unique geography and cultural heritage.Located in the municipality of Blaskogabyggo, just a short hour's drive from the capital city of Reykjavik, getting to Thingvellir is a breeze. Simply take Route 1 from Reykjavik until you hit Route 36 in Mosfellsbaer, and you'll be on your way to exploring this breathtaking natural wonderland. One of the park's major draws is its association with Althing, Iceland's national parliament. Sitting in a rift valley where the North American and Eurasian plates meet, it's no wonder that Thingvellir was declared a world heritage site in 2004. And with so many attractions on offer, it's easy to see why.Take Almannagja, for instance, a fault line that lies on the boundary of the American and Eurasian plates. This surface expression of deeply rooted normal faults is a sight to behold. Or venture over to Drekingarhylur, also known as the Drowning Pool. Once used to execute criminals by drowning, it's now a popular spot for swimming and photography.Don't miss the stunning Oxararfoss waterfall, where the grace of the Oxara River falling over the rocks is matched only by its historical significance. Legend has it that when the land was first settled, the settlers dug a hole in the frozen river to place an ax and claim the land. "Oxi" means ax in Icelandic, and this spot is steeped in folklore. For a truly unforgettable experience, scuba dive in Flosagja and Nikulasargja, two of the park's largest fault lines. With crystal clear glacial water up to 25 meters deep, swimming between two continents is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And no visit to Thingvellir would be complete without a stop at Thinvellir Church, a stunning off-white building that blends seamlessly with the sky and ground in winter. Adjacent to the church is the prime minister's summer house, open for visits most of the year.Whether you're a nature lover, history buff, or adrenaline junkie, Thingvellir National Park has something for everyone. From the vast uninhabited landscapes to the rich cultural heritage, Iceland's unique geography makes it a must-visit destination for any traveler. So what are you waiting for? Add it to your itinerary today!

Get ready to be blown away by one of the most incredible natural wonders on Earth - The Great Geysir in Iceland's Haukadalur valley. Picture this: boiling subterranean contents, built up from thousands of meters below the ground, forced out more than a hundred feet into the air by the immense pressure. Sounds terrifying, right? But trust us, hundreds of people flock to witness this mesmerizing display every year!Befittingly named Geysir, this is the first-ever water geyser known to modern Europeans, and even the word 'geyser' itself is derived from this wonder. Geologists estimate that it formed about 10,000 years ago, but written accounts of hot water geysers in Haukadalur date back to 1294.Despite its unpredictable eruptions, Geysir has been quite active for the past 60-70 years, thanks to small earthquakes and tectonic activity in the area. To witness this breathtaking display, you can easily hop on one of the frequent tour buses that visit the Golden Circle landmarks across Iceland or drive there yourself in about an hour and a half. And here's a little fun fact for you - the land where Geysir is located is privately owned and has changed hands multiple times. But now, you can visit for free and witness this marvel up close and personal!Although not as mighty as Geysir, there are plenty of other smaller geysers to check out in Iceland, like the Strokkur geyser, which has a fixed schedule of erupting, and the Blesi, also known as "the flames," which has twin basins that spew hot and cold water.Trust us, witnessing a water geyser in Iceland is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you in awe. So, don't miss the opportunity to visit this incredible natural wonder and unravel the mystery behind this unique geyser!
